Lend Us Your Ears

With Community Arts funding from the Milton Keynes Community Foundation and Wolverton & Greenleys Town Council, Planet Zyz collaborated with the story telling group A Word in Edgeways on this project to create a sound portrait of Wolverton in Milton Keynes.

 

We spoke to people from across the community to find out what sounds they made and to ask them what sounds they thought represented their place. Then Guy Jones (of A Word in Edgeways) and Steven McDaniel (of Planet Zyz) transversed the area making field recordings. Then they mixed and manipulated those sounds into an Impressionistic ‘Surround Sound Composition’, which were performed to rapt audiences in special ‘quadraphonic’ installations in local venues.
